Dr. Alford's Recent Article Appears in NCTE Blog
Lebanon, IL (02/17/2022) — The National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) recently picked up an article written by Dr. Katie Alford, assistant professor of education at McKendree University. The article, "Explicitly teaching listening in the ELA curriculum: Why and how," appears in their most recent blog post, published on January 12, 2022. Published in English Journal (volume 109, issue 5), the article was also the winner of the 2020 Edwin M. Hopkins Best Article Award.
Dr. Alford has been a member of the NCTE since 2005. Before pursuing a career in higher education, she had taught high school English, ESL, and reading in Tempe, Ariz. Her teaching interests include teaching methods, reading and writing in the content areas, and multicultural education.
