Dr. Alan Alewine Reappointed for Four More Years as Peer Corps Member for the HLC
Lebanon, IL (03/16/2022) — Dr. Alan Alewine, associate provost and professor of mathematics at McKendree University, was recently reappointed to another four-year term as a member of the Peer Corps for the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).
Alewine was selected as a Peer Corps member of the HLC in 2016. The only other member of the McKendree community who belongs to this group is Provost Tami Eggleston.
The HLC Peer Corps consists of approximately 2,000 faculty members and administrators from its member colleges and universities. These carefully selected, trained professionals serve the HLC in its accreditation process of higher education institutions by sharing their knowledge of and direct experience with higher education, their dedication to educational excellence and their commitment to the principles underlying voluntary accreditation.
"I enjoy seeing the inner nuts and bolts of other institutions and being able to help them improve," said Alewine.
Founded in 1895, the HLC is one of six regional institutional accreditors in the United States. It accredits degree-granting post-secondary educational institutions in the U.S., including McKendree University. Their mission is to advance the common good through quality assurance of higher education as the leader in equitable, transformative and trusted accreditation in the service of students and member institutions.
