Dr. Michael Louison Publishes Review Article in Transactions of the American Fisheries Society
Lebanon, IL (02/18/2022) — Dr. Michael Louison, assistant professor of biology at McKendree University, recently published a review article in the peer-reviewed journal Transaction of the American Fisheries Society. This article, written with a team of Canadian and American colleagues, focuses on the current status of research into how sportfish handle ice-angling from a physiological perspective.
Because there is currently little understanding of how ice angling affects the physiology, behavior, and survival of fishes, the article sets out to reveal the potential stressors that fish encounter in this popular form of recreational angling. Its purpose is to summarize current knowledge of the consequences of winter catch-and-release fishing on fish biology and to identify key knowledge gaps.
Dr. Louison is a member of the Animal Behavior Society and the American Fisheries Society. His teaching interests include animal behavior, fisheries conservation, the contemporary evolution of animals, and the physiological response of animals to their environment.
