Dr. Jessica Campbell Named Associate Professor of English at McKendree University

Lebanon, IL (08/18/2021) — McKendree University is proud to announce the recent promotion of Jessica Campbell, Ph.D., to associate professor of English in the University's Division of Humanities. Campbell has been teaching for the University for four years.

"It's hard to believe I've been at McKendree for four years. I've learned so much from my colleagues and look forward to continuing to share my love of books and writing with our students," said Campbell.

Throughout the years, Campbell has taught a variety of subjects, including writing, grammar, world literature, British literature, film, and literacy theory. While she has served on several committees, she has especially enjoyed serving on the Faculty Senate, which represents untenured faculty. Additionally, Campbell has been serving as McKendree's director of the Honors Program since last year.

"I love working with these talented students, especially hearing about the independent thesis research they complete as the capstone of their Honors experience," Campbell said.

Campbell has authored several academic publications in various journals. Her most recent published articles include "Real Women Have Skins: The Enchanted Bride Tale in Her Body and Other Parties," which was published in Marvels & Tales: Journal of Fairy-Tale Studies in fall 2019, and "Teaching Composition with Fairy Tales: Two Approaches," which was published in Beyond the Frontier: Innovations in First-Year Composition, Anthology II in 2018. A member of the Modern Language Association, the North American Victorian Studies Association, the American Folklore Society, and the Children's Literature Association, Campbell greatly enjoys reading in her spare time. If she isn't enchanted by a book, she can usually be found watching movies and TV series, hiking and being outside, or dancing, especially tap dancing.lished soon.
