Dr. Jenny Mueller's Poem "From 'The Large Glass'" Receives Nomination for Award
Lebanon, IL (10/31/2024) — Dr. Jenny Mueller's published poem "From 'The Large Glass'" has been nominated for a 2025 Best of the Net Prize by the literary journal Allium: A Journal of Poetry and Prose. Mueller is an English professor at McKendree Univesity.
The poem "From 'The Large Glass'" is the first part of a large sequence of poems Mueller wrote. The poem is about women who travel alone through New Mexico and was inspired by Mueller's own travels in the state.
"It was inspired by my own travels in northern New Mexico after my husband's death, and it mixes feelings of grief and awe with images of the region where I was staying when I began writing," Mueller remarks.
Regarding the nomination, Mueller is happy to know that the editors of the magazine Allium enjoyed her work and that readers appreciate what she has done. Winning works will be included in the annual Best of the Net Anthology in 2025.
