Dr. Guy A. Boysen Invited to Speak at Two Online Workshops for the American Psychological Association This Fall

Lebanon, IL (09/20/2021) — Dr. Guy A. Boysen, professor of psychology, has been invited to speak at two upcoming virtual workshops provided by the American Psychological Association, the leading scientific and professional organization for psychologists in the United States. The virtual workshops are part of an ongoing series called "How Did You Get That Job?" and cover an array of topics, including how to bolster your resume, craft an eye-catching cover letter, land a job interview and much more.

The 60-minute workshops will take place on Friday, Sept. 24 at 1 p.m. CST and Friday, Oct. 8 at 1 p.m. CST. Anyone is able to register to attend the workshops for free. If interested viewers are unable to attend but still want to view the webinar, they can register anyway and will receive the recording two weeks after the live event.

The first workshop is titled "Strategies for Writing Academic Job Materials" and will focus on how to tailor your academic job materials for your resume, how to write a cover letter that will garner attention and how to avoid common pitfalls in the application process. The second workshop is titled "Interview Strategies for Academic Jobs" and will cover topics including how to prepare for interviews, escape maneuvers for the social traps of interviewing, avoid common pitfalls in the interview process and more.

Dr. Boysen is the author of Becoming a Psychology Professor: Your Guide to Landing the Right Academic Job and coauthor of An Evidence-Based Guide for College and University Teaching: Developing the Model Teacher. He will be among other psychologists who will provide an inside look at careers for psychologists in various settings.
