National Service Award for Speech Team Coach
Stephen Hagan Honored at National Speech Championship
Lebanon, IL (03/27/2018) — Dr. Stephen Hagan, associate professor of sociology and speech coach at McKendree University, was honored recently at the National Speech Championship (NSC) with the National Service Award for his service to students, coaches and the community at large. Last year he was honored as the NSC Coach of the Year.
Hagan runs and host multiple tournaments, serves on the rules committee for the NSC, works the ballot table at the event, and serves on the Impromptu Topic committee for the National Forensics Association (NFA). He has served on Extemp Topic Committee and Impromptu Topic Committee for Pi Kappa Delta forensics honor society, and helps and supports other teams and student-led teams whenever possible.
The 2018 National Speech Championship is a national championship tournament for the nation's top collegiate speakers. The 2018 event was held in March 24-25 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
